Men's Hockey

BULLDOG SPOTLIGHT: JOSH MEYERS

Talk about taking advantage of the man advantage.

The University of Minnesota Duluth currently sports the most efficient power play in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and no one has been a bigger contributor to that effort than Josh Meyers.

The standout senior defenseman and 2008-09 team tri-captain has racked up 11 points this season and all have been registered while UMD has had the extra man. Meyers, the recipient of the 2007-08 Bob Junkert Award (best plus-minus rating of any Bulldog), ranks first in the WCHA and third in the country in power play goals (five) and is second in the league in power play points.

This kind of scoring prowess in man advantage situations is nothing new for the Los Angeles King draftee. Two year ago, Meyers scored more times on the power play (nine) than any other NCAA blueliner. In fact, no less than 72 percent (18 of 25) of Meyers' career goals are of the power play variety.
