Kelly Rosengren closed out her University of Minnesota Duluth playing career this past weekend on a winning note by claiming the No. 5 singles title at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Individual Tournament in Minneapolis, Minn.
Rosengren, a four-year letterwinner and 2009 co-captain from Brooklyn Park, Minn., became the first individual conference champion the Bulldogs have produced in two years and just the second since 2004. She wound up amassing an 18-5 singles record this spring for a .783 winning percentage -- the best mark of any 2009 Bulldog. In addition freshman Katie Bolf took consolation honors at No. 5 singles by going 4-1 on the weekend. The Hibbing, Minn. native was 18-9 overall, which tied Rosengren for the team lead in singles victories.
The sophomore duo of Rose Phippen Bradenton, Fla.) and Carrie Dahlman (Wahpeton, N.D.) were both named to the All-NSIC second team for singles while Dahlman and senior Stephanie Keller (Lino Lakes, Minn.) were accorded All-NSIC second team recognition in doubles.
The Buldogs posted a 9-13 overall match record in 2009 and placed seventh in the NSIC.
