Box Score The University of Minnesota Duluth Tennis Team fell in a close Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) battle with Sioux Falls 3-4 Saturday afternoon at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
Paige Heideman continued her impressive freshman campaign with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles, improving her record to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play. She also picked up a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles with partner
Carly Chaney. It was the pairs' third match as a team and their third-straight win.Â
Redshirt freshman
Danica Silcox secured her second-straight victory with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, and also won at No. 3 doubles with partner
Morgan Hammer, 6-4.
Sydney Friedrich and
Mia Miller picked up a win at No. 4 doubles and
Isabelle Simon and
Lilly Nelson got the win at No. 5 doubles.Â
The match was decided by a tiebreaker at No. 6 singles. Sophomore
Olivia Gorton won the first set vs. Mylin Lemke 6-2, but fell in the second set 4-6. The hard-fought tiebreaker would be won by Lemke, 7-5.Â
The Bulldogs continue play in Fargo with a match against NSIC-foe Augustana Sunday at Courts Plus beginning at 10 a.m.Â
