UMD ADDS GREENWAY/NASHWAUK KEEWATIN STAR PETERSON TO 2010 FOOTBALL RECRUITING CLASS

Dylan Peterson, a standout running back/wide receiver from Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin High School, has signed a national letter of intent to attend and play football for the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2010.

Peterson started for two years at Nashwauk-Keewatin before that program merged with Greenway prior to the 2009 season. He captained the Raiders last fall and reigned as the team's rushing, scoring and all-purpose yardage leader. For his efforts, Peterson was named the Great Polar White Conference's Most Valuable Player in addition to landing the Hibbing Daily Tribune's Player of the Year honor.

Peterson, who played under Raider head coach Bob Schwartz, a two-time All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference offensive lineman for the Bulldogs (1991-92), also lettered in basketball (guard) and track (sprints) as a prep.

UMD closed out its 77th season of intercollegiate football this past fall with an 11-2 overall record and made its second straight NCAA Division II playoff appearance (and third in five years) before bowing out to Grand Valley State University in the quarterfinal round. The 2008 national champion Bulldogs also laid claim to their second NSIC crown in as many years with a perfect 10-0 mark and, along the way, established 21 individual and team single-game, single-season and career marks while producing three All-Americans.
