The University of Minnesota Duluth track and field women competed at the Holst Invitational, hosted by Concordia St. Paul University on Saturday (April 21) while the men competed at the Carleton Relays hosted by Carlton College.
For the women, some highlights include senior Carrie Wardell as she won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:43.70 breaking a Holst Invitational record. She was followed by teammate senior Morgan Place who finished in second with a time of 4:48.65. Senior Maggie Demulling came in second place overall in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 58.47 and second place in the 200-meter dash (27.35) , while sophomore Kelsi Ring won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.93. Senior Lexi Williams ran the 800-meter in a time of 2:16.76, capturing a second place finish, freshman Chanel Miller won the javelin (105'08"), and junior Sam Olson came in second place (102'09"). Freshman Amelia Maher won the high jump with a jump of 5'01".
On the men's side, some highlights include sophomore Jacob Heifort who earned a seventh place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.63) and senior Jared Grams ni the 200-meter dash (23.34). Sophomore Cole Toepfer came away with an eighth place finish in the 1500-meter run (4:06.68), while sophomore Sam Saccoman won the 5,000-meter run (15:12.32) with teammate junior Ryan Eason followed behind in second place (15:13.96). Junior Marc Sizer finished in fifth place in the 110-meter hurdles (16.23) and sophomore Tyler Stevens finished in third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:38.42). In the field events, sophomore Nick Pedersen was sixth in the long jump (21'02.75"), sophomore Tomi Awosika was seventh in the triple jump (39'08.75"), freshman Nick Moran was second in the discus (134'09"), sophomore Nathan Knop was fourth in the high jump (6'0") and fourth in the javelin (149'06").
Up next for the Bulldogs will be the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa this coming Thursday-Saturday (April 26-28).
