The University of Minnesota Duluth left its home crowd happy in the opener on Tuesday night, doubling up border rival University of Wisconsin-Superior by an 89-43 final at Romano Gym.
The Bulldogs (2-1) got 19 points off the bench from sophomore
Taylor Meyer, who was nine-of-ten from the floor with five rebounds. UMD also got a double-digit scoring output from
Hannah Rutten as the senior center netted 13 while also hauling in a team-high seven rebounds. Twelve Bulldogs had at least one point on the night.
Junior
Danielle Flood had eight points, four rebounds, a pair of steals and a career-high six assists on the night. UMD shot 53.3% for the game while holding the Yellowjckaets to a 32.6% field goal percentage. The Bulldogs were also efficient from the charity stroke, going 69.6% on free throws.
The Bulldogs will head back out on the road following this match-up and will take on another non-conference foe in Michigan Tech University on Saturday afternoon. That game is set to tip-off at 3 p.m. locally.
