Jake Lambrecht came off the bench to figure in on a team-leading eight total tackles while freshmen linebacker
Beau Bates and
Ben McDonald each were credited with four stops. Linebacker
Colby Ring, one of 21 Bulldog seniors who were honored prior to the game, had himself quite an afternoon. In addtion to registering four tackles to move into sixth place on UMD's career charts (261 stops), he proposed to his girlfriend, Nadine Abu Azzam, a UMD senior and Duluth Central High School alumnae, on the field following the pre-game ceremony. She accepted.
In addition to giving up just 87 yards of passing offense (including just seven yards in the second half), UMD sacked Golden Eagle quarterbacks Kyle Larson and Nathan Cole three times and spent most of the afternoon in their faces, racking up five quarterback hurries.
"I thought we had good matchups against their O-line," said senior defensive end
Chris Vandervest. "Today was definitely emotional. It was nice to see all the senior got to play and had significant roles today."

The Bulldogs, who were slotted third in this week's NCAA Division II Super Region 3 Rankings, will be on the road for the final two weekends of the 2013 regular season, beginning with next Saturday's clash at the University of Mary.
