The University of Minnesota Duluth will look to rebound this weekend as the Bulldogs travel to the University of Minnesota-Crookston and Bemidji State University for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match-ups this weekend.
UMD (2-3) suffered a pair of setbacks last week, falling in its final non-conference match-up of the year 70-83 at Wisconsin-Parkside but not for the efforts of junior guard
Reece Zoelle, matching his career high of 26 points while also adding a pair of steals. Saturday saw the Bulldogs drop their conference opener at the hands of St. Cloud State 65-86. Senior guard
Peter Crawford led UMD with 14 points while freshman guard
Justin Byrd had a season-high 10 points and shot 66.0 percent from the floor.
Minnesota Crookston (3-2, 0-1 NSIC) dropped its NSIC opener at the hands of Bemidji State last weekend 63-78. Senior guard Ashton Harrell leads the Eagle offense averaging 13.2 points per game in 2013. Senior forward Brandon Burns has also averaging 13 PPG while also hauling in 4.0 rebounds. Junior forward Tyler West, Jr. has averaged a team-high five boards per game. Crookston is 2-2 at home this season.
Bemidji State (4-1, 1-0 NSIC) dropped its final non-conference match-up of the season before bouncing back with a win over Crookston. Four players have averaged double digits scoring this year, led by senior forward Zach Noreen's 19.8 points per game. Noreen has shot 59.1% from the floor including 50.0% (9-18) from beyond the arch. Senior forward Maxie Rosenbloom has nearly averaged a double-doublewith 9.0 rebounds and 11.2 points per outing. The Beavers are 3-1 on their home court this season.
Both games will take place following the women's match-ups, with Friday's showdown scheduled tentatively for 8:00 p.m. and Saturday's set to tip off at 4:00 p.m.
