CROOKSTON HOT FROM BEYOND THE ARC TO KNOCK OFF UMD

Reece Zoelle (12) had a double-double for UMD.
Box Score The University of Minnesota Crookston shot 53.3 percent from beyond the three-point line to knock off the University of Minnesota Duluth 87-85 in Crookston on Friday night.

UMD falls to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference despite a hot hand of their own as senior Jordan Reetz threw down 35 points on the night, five of nine from three-point land and 10-for-11 at the charity stripe.

UMD led 23-22 at the 13-minute mark of the opening half but saw Crookston (4-2, 1-1 NSIC) open up a 11 point lead with six minutes remaining before the Bulldogs battled back to pull within the final two-point margin with just 24 seconds on the clock. Senior guard Reece Zoelle tossed up a last-second three, but it fell short to end the game. Zoelle still finished with 25 points and a double-double while also hauling in a team-high 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Peter Crawford added 13 points on the night as the Bulldogs shot 48.3 percent. Crookston's Ashton Harrell led all scorers with 34 points as the Golden Eagles shot 57.4 percent from the field.

UMD will be back at it tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Bemidji State University for another NSIC match-up. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. following the women's game.
