BEAVERS ROADBLOCK UMD IN HIGHWAY 2 RIVALRY GAME

Jordan Reetz (24)
Box Score The University of Minnesota Duluth could not solve Bemidji State University's high-powered offense and fell by an 90-79 final up Highway 2 in Bemidji on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs fall to 2-5 overall and remain winless at 0-3 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. The Beavers (6-1, 3-0 NSIC) got off to a hot start and opened a 15-point lead at the midway point of the opening frame. From there, the teams traded points the rest of the half as BSU took a 40-24 lead into the locker room.

"For us, it has been a tale of two halves," head coach Matt Bowen said following the game. "We've played three very competitive second halves the way I'd like to play, but for some reason, we are not starting games with any level of confidence and digging way too deep a hole to climb out."

Senior Jordan Reetz led the Bulldogs offensively for the second consecutive night, putting away 26 points. Junior Reece Zoelle was again second on the team with 24, and both guards had a pair of steals on the night. Lane Olson led the way for UMD with five rebounds.

"We're limited right now, playing with four of our top seven out,"  said Coah Bowen. "Reece, Pete [Crawford, who added 14 points on the night], and Jordan are going to have to carry us. They're doing a good job, but we're just digging too big a hole."

BSU's Maxie Rosenbloom posted a double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds) after setting a Beaver rebounding record the night before. The Beavers finished shooting 51.0 percent on the night while UMD shot 46.3 percent including a 53.6 percent second half.

The Bulldogs finally return to Romano Gym next weekend to take on the University of Mary and Minot State University.

"It'll be good to play a home game, not to have to travel. I hope that we create some confidence for us. We're a young group and learning to win on the road is hard. Hopefully a home game will provide that spark."

Friday night's game with Marauders is set for 8:00 p.m. following the women's game.
