Although Jordan Bauman won't be participating in the University of Minnesota Duluth's Maroon-White Spring Game lthis Friday, he'll still be a focal point at the 39th annual event.
Bauman, a senior-to-be defensive lineman with the Bulldogs, is currently battling Stage II Hodgkin's Lymphoma (which kept him sidelined for the entire 2012 season) and as a show of support for the Stratford, Wis., native, UMD will sport purple wrist bands and spat -- the color associated with Hodgkin's Disease Awareness. The Bulldogs are asking spectators to wear purple as well to game, which is free and starts at 5:30 p.m. at James S. Malosky Stadium. Donations for the Jordan Bauman Cancer Fund will be collected at the door and in the stands throughout the evening.
"Jordan has provided plenty inspiration for us to keep fighting no matter the situation." said first-year Bulldog head coach Curt Wiese. "This day will not only be a great way to bring awareness to Hodgkin's Lymphoma, but also welcome Jordan back to our football team."
"Jordan's toughness and determination over the past months has inspired and motivated us all to become the best players and team we can be for him and for Bulldog Country," added UMD senior strong safety Travis Nordhus.
The Spring Game festivities are schedule underway at 4:30 p.m. with an autograph session featuring the entire Bulldog team. In addition, free food will be provided prior to kickoff courtesy of Texas Roadhouse.
