The No. 1 University of Minnesota Duluth volleyball team bounced back after its first defeat of 2013 with a sweep of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival Minnesota State University Mankato on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (13-1, 3-0 NSIC) won two of three sets by double figures, downing the Mavericks (7-5, 3-2 NSIC) by game scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-18. Four players had at least five kills as UMD made quick work of Mankato, led by senior outside hitter

Monica Turner finished second among Bulldogs with seven kills, adding a pair of solo blocks in the match. A pair of Mavericks had eight kills to lead MSU.

Julie Rainey had 18 of UMD's 38 digs in the match, while sophomore setter Ashley HInsch notched 34 assists. Outside of Minnesota State's setter Ellie Van Steeg's 31 assists, no Mavericks hit double digits in any statistic as UMD held them to a .105 hitting percentage.
The victory marked number 311 for the career of head coach
Jim Boos, who now stands alone atop the Bulldog coaching ranks, surpassing his predecessor, Pati Rolf. He had previously tied the record last week vs. St. Cloud State.
UMD returns to Romano Gym next weekend for Homecoming. The Bulldogs take the court against Upper Iowa on Friday evening with a 7:00 p.m. opening serve.
