BULLDOGS FALL 3-1 AT NORTH DAKOTA STATE SUNDAY

UMD moves to 1-1 on the season after match with NCAA Division I Bison

Kelli Klun helped key UMD's defense while also netting the lone Bulldog goal of the match.
Box Score Junior Kelli Klun's second-half score pulled the University of Minnesota Duluth within one, but the NCAA Division I North Dakota State University pulled away to a 3-1 victory on Sunday afternoon in Fargo, N.D.

The Bulldogs' defense held strong in the first half, holding the Bison to just three shots on goal against sophomore goalkeeper Marissa Rosa, but NDSU took a 1-0 lead into the break. Just after the five-minute mark of the second half, NSDU took a 2-0 lead on Lauren Miller's second goal of the match, but the Bulldogs were able to cut the deficit in half on Klun's first tally of the season in the 68th minute. The assist went to freshman forward Marissa Ganske, her first career point.

UMD added three more shots on net in the second half, but NDSU's Kate McCormick stopped them all while the Bison tallied an insurance goal for the 3-1 final. In all, the Bulldogs had 11 shots including five on net while four other shots were blocked by the Bison defense.

Rosa finished with four saves for the Bulldogs, who will be on the road next Sunday for their NSIC opener with St. Cloud State University.
