Tom Olson added another All-American honor to his 2013 resume today when the the University of Minnesota Duluth senior offensive tackle was chosen to the 29-player
Don Hansen NCAA II All-America first team.
Olson, who last month landed a spot on the Daktronics All-America second team, tied a school record by starting in 54 consecutive games over the last four seasons. This past fall, the Coon Rapids, Minn., native attained All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division first team recognition after anchoring a line which helped pave the way for one of the top scoring and rushing offenses in NCAA II football.
Another pair of seniors -- defensive end
Chris Vandervest and center
Grant Schnobrich -- were both
Don Hansen All-America honorable mention honorees. Schnobrich and Vandervest became the fourth and fifth different Bulldogs to receive some kind of All-American citation so far in 2013, Olson, senior linebacke
Colby Ring (American Football Coaches Association first team and Associated Press second team) and junior offensive guard
Andrew Muer (Beyond Sports Network third team).
