Zoe Hickel won't have as long of a holiday break as her University of Minnesota Duluth teammates, but the Bulldog senior captain won't be complaining.
Hickel was one of 40 players invited to the 2014 USA Hockey Women's Winter Training Camp that will be held Dec. 27-31 at Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine, Minn. Â The roster, officially released by USA Hockey Friday, also includes 16 members of the silver medal-winning 2014 U.S Women's Olympic Hockey Team. Â
A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Hickel currently leads UMD with 12 goals in 19 games and ranks second with 17 total points. Â She has three game-winning goals for the Bulldogs, who are 11-1-1 in their last 13 games, ranked No. 6 in the latest PairWise rankings and are sitting in third place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
All practices and scrimmages that Hickel will take part of at the 2014 USA Hockey Women's Winter Training Camp will be open to the public. Reagan Carey, USA Hockey's director of women's hockey, will oversee the camp and Ken Klee will serve as head coach. Klee will be assisted by Robb Stauber, Bob Deraney and Brett Strot.
