UMD HEADS NORTH TO CROOKSTON, BEMIDJI STATE SEEKING PAIR OF CONFERENCE WINS

The University of Minnesota Duluth heads out on the road for the final time in 2014 seeking a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wins as they face off against NSIC North Division rivals the University of Minnesota-Crookston and Bemidji State University this weekend.

UMD (2-3, 0-1 NSIC) fell a game below .500 last time out but faces a pair of teams with identical records this season as they look to take home a two conference wins and get back above water this weekend.

FREE THROWS
• UMD played just once last week after the Thanksgiving holiday, falling 81-67 after St. Cloud State University pulled away in the second half.
• Senior guard Danielle Flood scored 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting for the Bulldogs, adding two assists and two steals against St. Cloud
• Junior forward Taylor Meyer collected her third double-double of the season, netting 12 points and hauling in 12 rebounds against SCSU while shooting 45.5 percent (5-of-11) while adding three assists for UMD
• Without a four-year starter, UMD's top career scorers are senior guard Jessica Newman (554 points), Meyer (429), Flood (424), and senior point guard Alyssa Kerkhoff (422). Each has an outside chance of cracking the top 25 career marks in program history with an impressive showing through the rest of 2014-15.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES (Friday, Dec. 5, 6:00 p.m.) - Live Stats/Video
10208Minnesota-Crookston (2-3, 0-1 NSIC) knocked off Bemidji State 66-53 last time out after splitting a pair of games in Honolulu, Hawaii to close non-conference play. UMD is 27-1 all-time against the Golden Eagles, including a season sweep of UMC in 2013-14.
• Junior forward Katrina Moenkedick earned NSIC Player of the Week honors for the North division this week, scoring a double-double against the Beavers. She ranks 11th in the NSIC averaging 13.8 points per game, just off the team-lead of 14.8 held by junior guard Alex Thielman.
• Freshman forward Isieoma Odor is tied for the third-most blocks in the NSIC, averaging 1.8 points in just 18.8 minutes per game for Minnesota-Crookston.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS (Saturday, Dec. 6, 4:00 p.m.) - Live Stats/Video
10207Bemidji State (2-3, 0-1 NSIC) fell to UMC last time out after having won two in a row to close out non-conference play. The Bulldogs are 59-16 in program history against the Beavers, also picking up a pair of wins in two meetings with BSU last season.
• Sophomore guards Tatum Sheley and Aimee Pelzer lead the way for Bemidji State scoring, as Sheley averages 13.6 points per game (12th-best in the NSIC) and Pelzer 12.8 (17th-best). Pelzer and junior guard Allison McKee are tied for 14th in the conference averaging 6.2 rebounds per contest.
• Freshman center Sierra Senske has appeared in all five games for BSU, including two starts, and shot 53.1 percent (17-of-32) on the year, tenth-best in the NSIC.

The Bulldogs and Golden Eagles will tip the weekend on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
