University of Minnesota Duluth junior
Amanda Boman reigned as the mile champion at the Minnesota State University Open in Mankato, Minn., Saturday and headlined a list of strong performances by the Bulldogs.
Boman crossed the finish line in 5:18.06 en route to winning UMD's only individual title on the day. Junior
Hannah Jocelyn placed second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:52.80 while senior
Jacque Thaemert was third in the 1,000-meter run (3:01.01). Other top Bulldog finishes included junior
Jennifer Hitchcock in the weight throw (4th place; 16.41 meters), senior
Kayla Johnson in the 800-meter run (5th place; 2:22.68), junior Katherin Ayers in the shot put (6th; 12.53 meters), junior
Kayla Wiltrout in the pole vault (6th; 3.58 meters) and junior
Erin Pangerl in the 60-meter dash (6th; 7.95).
The Bulldogs, in final preparations for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, will be in Minneapolis, Minn., next Saturday (Feb. 22) for the University of Minnesota's Parent's Day Open. A select number of Bulldogs will be in Mankato tomorrow and Monday for the NSIC Indoor Heptathlon Championships.
