UMD, NORTHEASTERN STATE EXCHANGE VICTORIES IN WEDNESDAY DOUBLEHEADER

Sophomore infielder Sami Schnyder paced the Bulldogs with four hits and scored a pair of runs on the afternoon.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 For the second consecutive day, the University of Minnesota Duluth traded wins in a non-conference doubleheader, this time with Northeastern State University (Okla.) in the third leg of their four-day trip through Oklahoma and Arkansas. The Bulldogs (13-10 overall) took a convincing 9-3 triumph in the opener before NSU prevailed 3-1 to earn a split in Tahlequah, Okla.

UMD pushed across four runs in the top of the third inning. Leading 1-0, freshman outfielder Hailey Lundquist cleared the bases with her double to deep center field to make the RiverHawks (19-8) pay for an earlier error to keep the inning alive.

Sophomore pitcher Cayli Sadler whipped up a complete game win but ran into trouble the next half inning. The reigning Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week allowed three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Sadler got out of the jam and shut down Northeastern State the rest of the way for her team-leading ninth victory of the year.

A five-run fifth inning, which saw UMD bat around the lineup, expanded to lead up to 9-3. Freshman infielder Mel Jarvi and Sadler led off the inning with base hits when freshman Angel Dahl came in to pack a three-run pinch-hit home run, her first collegiate homer. A double in the right center gap by sophomore catcher Ashley Lewis, who scored on a wild pitch, plated senior outfielder Megan Mullen.

Lewis, who is 9-for-15 at the plate in her past four games, drove in the lone run for the Bulldogs in the 3-1 loss. Freshman pitcher Sam Hartmann threw a career-high seven strikeouts and only gave up three hits but walked six. UMD, who is 2-4 on the road trip, threaten in the top of seventh by loaded the bases with one out trailing 3-1 but couldn't drive in the game-tying runs.

The Bulldogs will conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule against Arkansas Tech University before returning home to prepare for league play. The first pitch is scheduled to start at noon in Russellville, Ark.
