UMD DRAWS EVEN WITH U-MARY AFTER DOUBLE OVERTIME IN BISMARCK

The University of Minnesota Duluth would rally in the second half but settle for a double overtime 2-2 tie against Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival the University of Mary on Sunday afternoon in Bismarck, North Dakota. UMD (4-8-2, 3-6-2 NSIC) got a solid performance from first-year goalkeeper Sisley Ng who turned away 10 shots. The Bulldogs would finished with 13 shots on goal against U-Mary (2-9-2, 2-8-1 NSIC), with Bailey Wenz going save-for-save with Ng, stopping 11 for the Marauders.

The two teams traded penalty kick scores just over seven minutes apart on the game clock but separated by halftime, the first by U-Mary's Jade Smith, her first of the year. The Bulldogs did not get down, and came out of the locker room with a score of their own as junior midfielder Katie Peterson netted the first goal of her season just past the 48-minute mark of the match. The Marauders had another answer just under 10 minutes later as Michelle McGeary slipped a through-ball past the defense to Megan Searson who tapped it left to Emily Julian, who buried it to put U-Mary up once again. UMD proved its mettle with a game-tying score 15 minutes later in the 73rd with junior midfielder Marissa Ganske scored her first of the year, getting an assist from sophmore mid Taylor Johnson. The two teams would trade chances in the final minutes of the second half but neither could capitalize before the end of regulation.
