UMD CONTINUES NON-CONFERENCE STRETCH WITH THREE GAMES IN NEXT FOUR DAYS

The University of Minnesota Duluth will continue its stretch of six games in ten days with three in four days on the road, beginning Thursday night as the Bulldogs travel to Houghton, Michigan to take on Michigan Technological University, the team's third opponent in its first four games to be represented in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II Preseason Top 25.

UMD (2-1) will head to Michigan Tech tomorrow night before wrapping up its non-conference slate Saturday afternoon at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The Bulldogs will then take on the NCAA Division I Green Bay Phoenix of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Sunday afternoon in exhibition play before entering the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule next week.

UMD split a pair of games against ranked foes last weekend, falling at the University of Central Missouri (R.V.) before knocking off East Central University (R.V.) at the NCAA II Central Region Crossover in Warrensburg, Missouri ... senior swing guard Pierre Newton led the Bulldog offense averaging 17.5 points per game while shooting 44.0 percent on the week (11-of-25) and hauling in 10.5 rebounds per game ... senior guard Taylor Lavery scored 21 points on 7-of-13 from the floor (53.8 percent) including 4-of-7 from three-point range as UMD beat East Central at its own game, hitting nine three-pointers on the afternoon.
