UMD LOOKS TO AVENGE PAIR OF EARLY DEFEATS ON FINAL NSIC ROAD TRIP

The University of Minnesota Duluth, thick in the race for homecourt advantage in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division, will look to make a splash this weekend against the two teams atop the division while avenging a pair of earlier conference defeats when they take on Minnesota State University-Moorhead and Northern State University on the team's final road trip.

UMD (11-11, 9-9 NSIC) returned to Romano Gym this past weekend, splitting a pair of games against Upper Iowa University and Winona State University, in the team's brief break from six-of-eight games on the road. The Bulldogs won comfortably 74-62 on Friday night against the Peacocks before falling 67-47 on Saturday against Winona State. UMD has won every other game dating back to Jan. 23 -- the last time the Bulldogs won two in a row -- a stretch of six outings.

• Senior guard Danielle Flood led UMD offensively, scoring 14.0 points per game on the weekend, shooting 48.1 percent (13-of-27) on the weekend, adding four assists, three rebounds, one block, and one steal. She scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs against Upper Iowa, shooting 7-of-13 including 2-of-5 from three-point range, adding four assists, a block, and a steal against the Peacocks.
• Junior forward Taylor Meyer averaged 10.5 points and 8.0 rebounds on the weekend, shooting 36.4 percent (8-of-22) while adding two blocks, one assist, and one steal. • UMD is currently tied for fourth place in the NSIC North division with St. Cloud State. The two teams split their meetings this year, meaning the tiebreaker becomes divisional win-loss percentage. The two teams are traveling partners and thus, have the same four opponents down the stretch. The Bulldogs are currently down a win, 6-4 against the North, while the Huskies are 7-3. UMD will need to put wins together down the stretch to edge out its conference rival.
