For the first time in her budding Team Canada career,
Brigette Lacquette has earned a spot on the Canada National Team's roster for the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship.
The native of Mallard, Manitoba was one of seven defenseman and 23 total players chosen to represent Canada March 28-April 4 in Malmo, Sweden. She will join two former Bulldogs -- two-time All-American blueliner Jocelyne Larocque (a 2014 gold medalist with Canada in Sochi) and two-time gold medalist (2014, 2010) forward Haley Irwin on Canada's roster.
Lacquette was served with Team Canada duty twice this past UMD season -- Canada's National Team Fall Festival back on Sept. 22-28, and again a Canada's National Team training camp that ran from Jan. 26-30. With seven goals and 18 assists in 35 games this season as a Bulldog, Lacquette finished fourth among UMD in scoring this past season and finished her career as the third all-time goal scorer from the backline with 20 goals in just three seasons. She was also named to the All-WCHA Second Team two weeks ago.
Lacquette will be one of two current Bulldog seniors on the ice in Malmo, as senior winger
Zoe Hickel will represent Team USA.Â
