For the third time in five nights, the University of Minnesota Duluth made quick work of its opponent by downing St. Cloud State University in straight sets. With the win, UMD moves to 20-0 (12-0) with just eight games remaining.
The Bulldogs made some history on Tuesday night in Romano Gym, breaking the program record for fewest errors by committing just four on the match. UMD recorded an attack percentage of .452, continuing a run where it has hit a combined .430 in the previous five games. Sarah Kelly downed seven kills without an error to hit .636 - bringing her season average up to .412 (the Bulldog single season record is .383). On defense, UMD used a combination of blocks and digs from numerous players to hold the Huskies to hitting just .039. Sophomore libero
Erin Schindler dug out 14 balls, while three other Bulldogs racked up seven or more. Senior middle blocker
Sydnie Mauch was a force at the net, grabbing five blocks in addition to her eight kills.
UMD set the tone for the match right out of the gate by jumping to a quick 12-3 after running off nine consecutive points. The Bulldogs would coast to a 25-15 set victory behind five kills a piece from Morgen and Mauch. UMD hit an extraordinary .654 in the opening frame and did not commit an error through the first 35 points. Every Bulldog who recorded a kill ended the set with a hitting percentage of .556 or greater.

Emily Torve displayed her versatility while recording 12 assists and six digs. St. Cloud State had trouble all night offensively, highlighted by a match-worst -.111 attack percentage in its second set loss.
The Bulldogs took the court in the third set looking to cap off their fifth consecutive sweep, and 15
th overall on the season. UMD would do just that, as it did not allow the Huskies to grab onto a lead at any point. The Bulldogs used two runs of four or more points to vault past SCSU and take home the match by a score of 25-15. UMD hit just one error in the set while forcing the Huskies to eight. Schindler racked up 10 of her 14 digs in the final frame.
The Bulldogs will put their top ranking on the line this weekend, beginning with a showdown on the road against No. 9 Wayne State University on Friday night. UMD will follow up that match with another top 10 battle with No. 8 Augustana (S.D.) University on Saturday evening.
