Lizzy Fontes, the University of Minnesota Duluth blanked Wayne State College (Neb.) 1-0 Friday night under the lights of Malosky Stadium.
The Bulldogs (7-5-3; 5-4-3 NSIC) defense held their own against the Wildcats (7-5-3; 4-5-3 NSIC). UMD tied a season low in both shots allowed (six) and shots on goal allowed (three).
The Bulldogs didn't concede a shot till 23:24 in the first half. Fontes scored the lone goal of the game at 56:44, and is tied for second on the team in points thus far in the season (five). The goal was assisted by sophomore midfielders

Sisley Ng completed her third shutout of the season, finishing the game tied for a season low in saves (three).
UMD is 7-5-3 through 15 games so far this season, its best start through 15 games since 2013 when it started 12-3 and finished 17-5-1 overall and a 12-3 record in conference play.
The Bulldogs will take on a top Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference team in Augustana (S.D.) University (9-4-1; 8-2-1 NSIC) on Sunday (Oct. 23) at 1 p.m. Senior midfielder Emily Jacobson leads the Vikings in total points on the season with 12 (three goals, six assists).
