In its final home appearance of the 2016 season, the University of Minnesota Duluth exploded for a season-high four goals in a 4-0 blanking of the University of Minnesota Crookston on Friday night.
UMD (8-5-4; 6-4-4 NSIC) capped off its annual Senior Night with an exclamation point by scoring its most goals in a single game since Oct. 11, 2014, against Wayne State (Neb.) University when it won 4-2.
The Bulldogs found themselves breaking several season highs against the Golden Eagles. Along with scoring a season high for goals, UMD also held Crookston to just two shots, and a single shot on goal; both season lows for opponents. Senior forward
Kailey Beatt, sophomore defender
Laura Edgren, and junior defenders
Skye Finley andÂ
Emily Fleissner each captured a goal in the first half of the game. Junior goalkeeper
Jordan Melby garnered her second shutout of the season, making only one save in the process. Melby is now 3-0-2 in games in which she started in 2016.
Beatt, Melby, junior midfielder
Nicole Becker and junior forward
Taylor Johnson were all honored at halftime during the game as part of Senior Night. Melby, Becker, and Johnson are all seniors academically.
UMD will cap off its regular season schedule this Sunday (Oct. 30) at Bemidji State University. The Bulldogs are 16-5-2 all-time against the Beavers.Â
