UMD HANDS BEMIDJI STATE ITS FIRST TIE OF SEASON WITH 1-1 DRAW

The University of Minnesota Duluth wrapped up its regular season by handing Bemidji State University its first draw of the season. The Beavers last tied on Oct. 24, 2015, against Winona State University. It's just their third draw in as many seasons.

The Bulldogs (8-5-5; 6-4-5 NSIC) set a single-season record with their fifth tie of the year and finished 3-2-4 overall on the road. The Beavers (13-4-1; 11-3-1 NSIC) had previously won four in a row, and seven of their last 10.

Sophomore forward Rachael Norton netted her seventh goal of the season to put Bemidji up 1-0 in the 20th minute. Sophomore defender Erika Hjort knotted things up 1-1 at 70:59 with her first career goal. Hjort scored a header off a corner from sophomore defender Laura Edgren. Sophomore goalkeeper Sisley Ng made four saves en route to finishing her regular season with a 3-5-3 record. Ng also was credited with four shutouts on the season.

Junior defender Skye Finley finished the season as the team leader in goals (5) and points (13), and tied with the team lead with three assists. The Bulldogs are now 0-4-9 in overtime or double-overtime games since their last victory on Oct. 18, 2013, against Concordia University-St. Paul.

UMD earns the fifth seed for the NSIC Tournament, and will take on fourth-seeded Augustana (S.D.) University on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
