A quartet of United States Hockey League standouts -- defensemen Matt Anderson (Green Bay Gamblers), Mikey Anderson (Waterloo Black Hawks) and Scott Perunovich (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders) and Nick Swaney (Waterloo Black Hawks) have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play hockey for the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2017-18.
 

"I'm really excited about this group of young men," said UMD head coach Scott Sandelin. "Collectively, they possess a lot of skill, speed, athleticism and hockey sense. Plus, all four are great character kids. 




Matt Anderson (Defenseman • 5-11 • 182 • 4/11/99 • Shakopee, Minn • Green Bay/USHL) -- Embarked on his first full season of USHL warfare earlier this fall ... has two assists through 11 outings ... starred on the Holy Family Catholic High School blue line for four years ... captained the Fire as a senior in 2015-16 and posted career highs for goals (nine), assists (26) and points (35).

Mikey Anderson (Defenseman • 5-11 • 207 • 5/25/99 • Roseville, Minn. • Waterloo/USHL) -- Follows in the footsteps of older brother, Joey Anderson, a rookie winger with the 2016-17 Bulldogs ... joined forces with Waterloo one year ago and collared USHL All-Rookie second team honors ... appeared in 57 regular season outings last winter had 16 points (one goal and 15 assists) to show for it ... has collected one goal and seven assists in 13 games thus far in 2016-17 ...  is a Black Hawk teammate of fellow 2017-18 UMD recruit Nick Swaney ... was member of the silver medal-winning U.S. entry at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament







Scott Perunovich (Defenseman • 5-9 • 154 • 8/18/98 • Hibbing, Minn. • Cedar Rapids/USHL) -- Debuted with Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in 2016-17 after closing the books on a stellar high school career last spring with the Hibbing/Chisholm program ... has five points (one goal and four assists) through 13 USHL engagements .... rolled up 68 points in just 25 regular season games one year ago at Hibbing /Chisholm High School ... had the unique opportunity of playing against his future college mates last January when he filled in for the U.S. National Under-18 Team that fell 4-3 in overtime to UMD at AMSOIL Arena.






Nick Swaney (Forward • 5-10 • 167 • 9/9/97 • Lakeville, Minn. • Waterloo/USHL) -- Is in his second full season with the USHL's Waterloo franchise where he's a teammate of another 2017-18 UMD freshmen, Mikey Anderson ... has generated 14 points (seven goals and seven assists) in 13 games this season, putting him 11th on the USHL scoring charts ... paced the Black Hawks in regular season goals (30) and points (50) last winter ... spent three rewarding years with the Lakeville South High School varsity (2012-15).





The 2016-17 Bulldogs will graduate seven seniors, including three forwards and four defensemen.
