UMD FALLS TO ST CLOUD STATE IN NSIC OPENER

The University of Minnesota Duluth Women's Basketball team opened up its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference campaign on the road with an 84-65 loss to St. Cloud State University.

The Bulldogs (1-3; 0-1 NSIC) allowed a season-high 84 points to a high-scoring Huskies (3-2; 1-0 NSIC) offense. 

Sophomore guard Sammy Kozlowski led the Bulldogs in scoring through the first half with 10 points on 4-8 shooting while adding three rebounds and a pair of assists. UMD shot a solid 40.9 percent in the first half (9-22) as well as 44.4 percent from beyond the arc on 4-9 shooting. Senior guard Chelsea Nooker shot 6-9 for 13 points for SCSU in the first 20 minutes of the game. Nooker finished with a career-high 24 points on 10-17 shooting.

The Huskies burned off a 15-5 run in the early minutes of the second half to pull away from the Bulldogs. Junior guard Amanda Christianson was responsible for 11 of the 28 points in the third quarter for SCSU. Sophomore guard Emma Boehm finished with a season-high nine points while freshman forward Katie Stark corralled a career-high nine points, too. Junior forward Ayo Porte collected seven points and a team-high four rebounds in just 11 minutes. The Bulldogs set season highs in three-pointers (9) and free-throws made (14).

UMD will play a pair of home NSIC match-up games next weekend starting with Bemidji State on Friday (Dec. 2) at 6 p.m. and then Minnesota Crookston on Saturday (Dec. 3) at 4 p.m.
