Carson Soucy were both cited by the National Collegiate Hockey Conference for their stellar performances in the University of Minnesota Duluth's road sweep of St. Cloud State University over the weekend. Anderson was chosen the NCHC Rookie Player of the Week and Soucy received the circuit's Defenseman of the Week award. This marks the first time both have been honored with the NCHC weekly award of any kind.
Anderson, a native of Roseville, Minn., potted the first two goals -- including the game-winner -- of his young collegiate career and assisted on another score in Friday's 5-3 takedown of the then-No. 8 Huskies. He opened the scoring for UMD the next night and then helped set up the final goal of the night in another 5-3 triumph. In addition to collecting five points, Anderson was a was 4 on the weekend and put four shots on net. He is currently is tied for second in both scoring (12 points) and assists (9) among NCAA I freshmen.

7:33Â into the third period (which made it 3-3) and capping off the Bulldogs' come-from-behind victory with an empty netter 11 minutes later. In the series opener, the Irma, Alberta, product and assistant team captain assisted on
Kyle Osterberg's equalizer midway through the third period. Soucy closed out the series with three points five blocked shots, a plus-1 rating, and four shots, including three on Saturday.
Of the 20 various Player of the Week awards (Offensive, Defenseman, Rookie and Goaltender) the NCHC has handed out thus far in 2016-17, seven have gone to Bulldogs -- Anderson, Soucy, Nick Deery (Goaltender on Oct. 10), Neal Pionk (Defenseman on Oct. 10), Adam Johnson (Offensive on Oct. 17), Alex Iafallo (Offensive on Oct. 31) and Hunter Miska (Goaltender on Oct. 31).
