FARLEY, BULLDOGS STORM BACK TO KEEP COLORADO COLLEGE WINLESS AT AMSOIL ARENA

Colorado College has to taste victory at AMSOIL Arena and Austin Farley and his University of Minnesota Duluth teammates want to keep it that way.

Farley scored twice and assisted on another goal in helping the Bulldogs turn a 2-0 second-period deficit into a 5-3 National Collegiate Hockey Conference victory Friday night. Junior left winger Alex Iafallo also had a pair of goals for UMD, which extended its unbeaten streak against the Tigers to nine games (8-0-1) while keeping them winless at AMSOIL Arena (0-6-1), its home since Dec. 30, 2011.

Colorado College took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission then went up 2-0 on a power play goal 47 seconds into the second before the Bulldogs scored four straight times. Farley got the first of those goals, cashing in on the power play at 2:31 of the second that ended an 0-for-38 drought with the man advantage stretching back 10 games. Sophomore right winger Karson Kuhlman got the equalizer seven minutes later and Iafallo then put the Bulldogs on top for good midway through the third period when he banged in loose puck just outside the Tiger goal crease. Farley made it 4-2 UMD with his team-leading 13th goal of the season --and the eventual game winner -- off a rebound with 2:42 remaining in regulation, but Colorado College answered 53 seconds later. Iafallo iced the victory with an empty net goal at the 19:27 mark.

"Coach (Scott) Sandelin said during practice this week to just keep it simple and that's kind of what we did tonight," said Iafallo. "We made good plays and made sure to stay strong defensively. It was a big win for us."

UMD (10-11-5 overall, 6-8-3-1 NCHC) outshot the Tigers 42-27, including 31-13 in the opening two periods of play.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night at 7:07 p.m.
