USTFCCCA CITES TROST AS ITS 2016 CENTRAL REGION INDOOR ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Emilee Trost added another entry to her already impressive 2015-16 athletic portfolio this week when the University of Minnesota Duluth sophomore was announced as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Central Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for NCAA Division II. She becomes the second Bulldog in the last three years to attain that honor, joining distance runner Samantha Rivard (2014).

One week ago, Trost received the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after winning league crowns in the mile run, 1,000-meter run and distance medley relay. The Goodhue, Minn., native was top point generator at the league meet and established conference records in both the mile run and distance medley relay. Trost's times in the mile (4:41.59) and the distance medley relay (11:35.87) rank first in the nation entering this weekend's NCAA II Indoor Track and Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Preliminaries for the mile are set for 4:30 p.m. Friday with the finals taking place the following day at 3:15 p.m. The distance medley relay finals will be held on Friday as well. (7:45 p.m.).
