UMD FACES QUICK TURNAROUND AS UPPER IOWA SERIES MOVES TO TUESDAY AFTERNOON

The University of Minnesota Duluth's scheduled Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader at Upper Iowa University has been bumped up a day to tomorrow (Tuesday) with a new start time of 1:00 p.m. in Fayette, Iowa.

UMD (27-9, 20-4 NSIC) takes a 12-game winning streak into the series after sweeping a four-game set against Bemidji State University. The Bulldogs and Peacocks were originally scheduled for a non-conference doubleheader in Duluth earlier this season, but adverse weather conditions forced its cancellation.

SCOUTING THE PEACOCKS | 12-21, 8-14 NSIC
14473Upper Iowa faces an even quick turnaround after playing two Sunday a Southwest Minnesota State University, with the home team taking each end of the twinbill by a 2-1 score ... the Peacocks took the first two games of the series on Saturday and are .500 in their last six games ... junior shortstop Luis D. Ravelo-Herrera leads the Upper Iowa batting order, hitting .330 in 34 starts. He's slugged a team-high .582 with three homers, four triples, and six doubles ... sophomore outfielder Jacob Greco, after a breakout freshman season, is hitting .277 with 24 RBIs and a pair of home runs ... senior hurler Zach Carstens has a 2-3 record in six starts, tossing 42.0 innings pitched to the tune of a 4.71 ERA to lead the starting staff ... junior infielder/pitcher Mitch Moser has a 5.45 ERA in six starts and a team-best 4-1 record. He's struck out 28 in 34.2 innings ... head coach Mark Danker is in his 27th season on the Upper Iowa staff ... UMD owns a 20-10 record all-time against the Peacocks, taking 3-of-4 from Upper Iowa in a pair of doubleheaders last season.

CIRCLING THE BASES
Senior first baseman Alex Wojciechowski led the Bulldog offense with a .696 batting average, 1.783 slugging, and .741 on-base percentage. He launched eight home runs, at least one in every game, added 15 RBIs, scored 15 runs, and swiped three bases ... UMD scored 11.2 runs per game on the week and 12 different batters had at least one RBI on the week: senior second baseman Jimmy Heck drove in 10 runs, junior shortstop Kyle Hoffman drove in eight runs, and senior third baseman Kyle Comer and junior outfielder Grant Farley each drove in seven runs ... the Bulldogs hit 17 homers and had eight different hitters contribute to that total. Outside of Wojciechowski, Hoffman (2) and Farley (2) each had multiple big flies ... senior closer Wes Mleziva worked both ends of UMD's doubleheader on Saturday against Bemidji State, picking up his fifth save of the season and his second victory, working 3.2 shutout innings while allowing two hits and striking out six ... senior lefty Spencer Diedrich picked up a win, throwing 6.0 innings and striking out eight while allowing just one earned run on Wednesday afternoon against Minnesota Crookston. Sophomore lefty Tommy Hanson also got a win starting against UMC, striking out nine over 5.0 innings while allowing just one run.

MILESTONE WATCH
Already UMD's career leader in hits and runs batted in, A. Wojciechowski sits just two hits from 250 and three RBIs away from 200 in his career ... Heck needs just one hit to move into sixth place all-time in program history, currently with 202 in his career ... Comer sits five RBIs from being the third Bulldog ever to reach 150 for his career ... senior southpaw Bo Hellquist will tie the UMD record with 32 starts in his career when he takes his next turn on the mound. With seven more strikeouts, Hellquist will move into third place all-time in that category (currently with 163 total) ... Mleziva sits three saves away from the Bulldog record for a career (14) which would also tie him for the most in a single season (eight).
