Breanna Colbenson has been selected the 2016 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year after capturing two individual titles at last weekend's conference meet in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Colbenson, a junior from Elmwood, Wis., prevailed in the 10,000-meter run on Friday and then proceeded to win the 3,000-meter steeplechase the following day, coming in at 10:29.78. During the 2016 outdoor season, Colbenson has set two school records -- in the steeplechase (10:21.11) and 5,000-meter run (16:28.38)  -- and reigned as the Drake Relays steeplechase champion. She automatically or provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in four events, including the 10,000-meter run, the 5,000-meter run, the 1,500-meter run and the steeplechase.
