The University of Minnesota Duluth's entire five-member freshman class -- goaltender

Parker Mackay, and defenseman
Neal Pionk -- all made the National Collegiate Hockey Conference All-Academic Team for 2015-16. In addition, Mackay received NCHC Scholar-Athlete Team distinction.
To be eligible for the NCHC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must compile a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (or better) and have completed a full academic year at their current institution. Similarly, for the NCHC Scholar-Athlete Team, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.5 cumulative GPA or better with a full year of academic studies. Athletic success and playing time are not criteria for these awards.
The 2015-16 NCHC All-Academic Team was originally announced this past February when it recognized the league's sophomores, juniors and seniors -- including 18 Bulldogs. The complete list of UMD honorees is as follows:
