The University of Minnesota Duluth was unable to find the back of the net Friday night against Upper Iowa University in a 2-0 loss.
The Bulldogs (4-3-2; 2-2-2 NSIC) outshot the Peacocks (4-4; 3-3 NSIC) 13-8 overall -- 11-3 in the second half -- but were unable to break through the ranks as they fall to 2-2 on the year at home.
Senior defender Christiana Atteberry helped the Peacocks get on the board first at 35:25. Atteberry broke through the UMD defense to cap her second goal of the season. Sophomore forward Jordyn Ostrowski added an insurance run for Upper Iowa at 61:53. That's all the Peacocks would need, as solid goalkeeping by junior Caila Petrie helped to shutout the Bulldogs 2-0. Petrie finished with five saves.
Senior forward
Kailey Beatt finished with a team season-high five shots, three of which were on goal. Junior forward
Taylor Johnson added three more shots, as seven Bulldogs garnered at least one shot in the game.
UMD will face Winona State (4-4-1; 1-4-1 NSIC) on Sunday (Oct. 2). The Warriors are 1-3-1 in their last five games.
