The University of Minnesota Duluth not only laid claim to 10 titles at Saturday's Twin Ports Invite on the University of Wisconsin-Superior campus, but it captured six of those crowns with record-breaking efforts.
Among the eight Bulldog individual winners were freshman
Beau Bofferding in the 60-meter dash (7.18), junior
Henry Jessen in the mile run (4:36.15), sophomore
Andrew Lind in the high jump (6'-01.50"), junior
Logan Rubeck in the 60-meter hurdles (8.81), sophomore
Garret Schleis in the triple jump (41'-07.00"), sophomore
Chris Timm in the pole vault (13'-11.25"), sophomore
Ryan Tolkinen in the 200-meter hurdles (25.37) and junior
Clinton Treichel in the shot put (50'-03.25"). Bofferding, who closed out his rewarding four-year UMD football career this past fall, Timm, Tolkinen and Treichel all established Twin Ports Invite records with their performances.
In addition, the Bulldogs placed first in three of the five relay events. Jessen teamed with senior
Drew Johnson and juniors
Grant Pulver and
Cody Sedbrook to win the 4 x 1,600 meter relay in a school-record time of 18:01.40. In the 1600 meter sprint medley relay, juniors
Nick Beattie,
Connor Behm,
Austin Carlson and senior
Ben Hanson prevailed in 3:36.23, which bettered the previous Twin Ports Invite meet record as well as the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse record too. The quartet of Bofferding, Behm, Carlson, and Beattie ended the meet with a victory in the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:32.95, which was also a meet record.
The Bulldogs will pay a visit ot Menomonie, Wis., next Saturday (Jan. 28) for the University of Wisconsin-Stout's Warren Bowlus Invitational.
