University of Minnesota Duluth Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Brette Jensen announced Thursday the addition of Dillon May as the program's next Associate Head Track & Field Coach. 

May joins the Bulldogs after spending two years at LeTourneau University, an NCAA Division III program, as the Director of Track and Field and Cross Country. While in Longview, Texas, May directly coached sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws and led the men's cross country team to a 2024 ASC Conference Championship. May also helped guide the program to 47 school records and 280 all-time top-10 performances. 

Prior to that, May spent one season as the head cross country coach and Director of Track and Field at NCAA Division III member Virginia Wesleyan. In his season at Virginia Wesleyan, May's teams were strong on the track. He had three NCAA qualifiers in track, including two All-Americans. The Marlins accumulated 34 All-ODAC performances, six track All-Region honorees, and set multiple program records and top-10 program performances.

Before his role at Virginia Wesleyan, May spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at Messiah where he assisted with all aspects of the track and cross country programs. During his time at Messiah, May helped coach three NCAA champions, four All-Americans, and seven NCAA qualifiers. 

May was a five-time letterwinner as a cross country and track athlete at NCAA Division I member Montana. He earned Big Sky All-Academic five times and graduated with a degree in mathematics in 2019.

He spent two years as a high school math teacher and coach at Erie High School in Colorado before attending Messiah to earn his master's degree in intercollegiate athletics leadership. May completed his master's degree in 2023.

May holds a Level I coaching certification with USA Track & Field.
