The University of Minnesota Duluth women's basketball team started the season on a high-note, with a 73-49 clobbering of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. It's the Bulldogs first season opening win since the 2013-14 season.
UMD (1-0) held UWP (1-6) to a season-low in both points and shooting percentage (22.9 percent). The Bulldogs limited the Rangers to just 14 points in the second half alone.

The Bulldogs' 74 field goal attempts were their most in a game since they recorded 80 against the University of Mary on Jan. 24, 2015. UMD, a viable three-point shooting team a season ago (37 percent), struggled to knock down the deep ball this afternoon. The Bulldogs managed to connect on a mere 7-25 (28 percent) shots from long range, but held the Rangers to 6-28 (21 percent) shooting from deep.
The Bulldogs will take on the Michigan Tech Huskies (4-0) of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Monday (Nov. 20) at 5 p.m CST. UMD holds a 30-21 advantage all-time against MTU.
UMD will play its first game at home on Wednesday (Nov. 22) against Lake Superior State (0-1) at 5:30 p.m.
