MYER AND WILSON SHINE IN 80-68 LOSS TO SCSU

Box Score It was a career night for sophomore forward Brandon Myer and a three-point clinic by senior forward Jake Wilson but it wasn't enough for the University of Minnesota Duluth as they dropped Saturday's contest 77-62 to St. Cloud State University at Halenback Hall in St. Cloud, Minn. The Bulldogs are still in search of their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win of the season after it shot 48 percent from the field. The Huskies (7-3, 4-1 NSIC) hit 51 percent.

One game removed from tying his career high, Myer blasted the Huskies for 30 points. The Superior, Wis., native was scorching hot from the floor as he hit 11 of his 13 shots Myer's 30-point effort was the first 30-plus point game since Pierre Newton posted 42 points on Jan. 30, 2016.

His 30-point game came as no surprise as Myer has at least 15 points in now six of the last seven games and is now UMD's number one scoring threat. Myer also tallied a game-high nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Aiding Myer was Wilson, who was a sparking 6-of-7 from downtown including a perfect 5-for-5 in the first half alone from three-point land. Wilson added 20 points and his six three pointers were the most by a Bulldog since Feb. 7, 2014 when Reece Zoelle nailed eight long-range makes.

Jon Averkamp led the Huskies with 23 points. Gage Davis made his return to action for SCSU. Davis, the NSIC North Preseason Player of the Year selection, was held to eight points.

The Huskies never trailed on the night after they grabbed the game's first bucket. UMD fought back numerous times throughout, cutting the lead down to five points on four different occasions.

UMD (2-7, 0-5 NSIC) will play Northern Michigan University on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Romano Gymnasium. Game time is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
