Bradford Owens all took home individual titles for the University of Minnesota Duluth at Saturday's Holst Invitational at Concordia University-St. Paul's Sea Foam Stadium.
Carlson ran a 49.34 in the 400-meter dash, Johnson came in at 9:34.39 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Owens went 156'-11" in the javelin throw in their winning performances. Four other Bulldogs placed third in their respective events including senior
Jason Lilja in both the the long jump ( 22'-10.50") and high jump (6'-06.75"), junior
Logan Rubeck in the 110-meter hurdles (15.99), junior
Clinton Treichel in the shot put (50'-01.25") and freshman
Nick Kalmes in the discus (149'-06').
In addition, sophomore
Ryan Tolkinen, freshman
Kelvin Kwarteng, junior Darrick Johnson and freshman
Sam Wiechman finished second in the 4 x 400-meter relay in a time of 3:27.01. Kwarteng and Wiechman also teammed up with sophomore
Casey Reeves and junior
Nick Beattie to take third in the 4 x 100-meter relay race (43.69)
The Bulldogs will compete in this Thursday's Bolstroff Twlight at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., before heading to St. Peter, Minn., for the Drake Alternative meet two days later.
