Brett Ervin is headed back overseas to play professional basketball in Spain. Ervin recently signed a contract this past summer with the Aquimisa Laboratorios in the Spanish Basketball Federation located in Zamora, Spain. Aquimisa Laboratorios is in the LEB Plata league, which plays 30 games throughout the season ranging from the end of September to the middle of April.
The former University of Minnesota Duluth standout center played overseas professionally with the Vitória Sport Clube of the Portugese League in 2015.
A four-year starter from Eden Prairie, Minn., Ervin paced UMD in scoring his last season with a career-high 19.1 points per game average en route to securing NABC All-Central Region, Daktronics All-Central Region (second team) and All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference recognition. He also helped lead the Bulldogs to their first home NSIC playoff game -- and victory -- in nine years. Voted the NSIC North Division Preseason Player of the Year in 2013-14 before an early November knee injury sidelined him for all of that year (medical redshirt), Ervin holds down the No. 8 spot on UMD's career scoring charts with 1,581 points. He also was an All-NSIC second team selection as a junior in 2012-13 and received the league's Freshman of the Year Award two years earlier.
Ervin is among a growing list of Bulldog players who have continue to play professionally, joining guard Pierre Newton and forward Brendon Pineda (India in 2016), guard Taylor Lavery (Romania in 2016), guard Jake Hottenstine (Spain in 2013-14) and center John Vaudreil (Austrailia in 2010 and 2011 and Taiwan in 2011-12).
