The University of Minnesota Duluth currently ranks third among all NCAA II schools in total defense and one of the Bulldogs' ball-stopping ringleaders has been senior team captain
A.J. Naatz. The second-year starter and 2017 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference first team linebacker out of Menomonie, Wis., has racked up a team-leading 8.0 tackles for a loss this fall. Naatz has 11 stops in all for the No. 7 Bulldogs, who are allowing just 11.0 points and 215.0 yards per game.
"A.J. has a tremendous personality --Â a great kid, student and leader on our team," said veteran UMD defensive coordinator
John Steger. "He is a guy who is always vocal, has ots of energy, and loves to play football. We have moved him around during his time here, playing him at both inside and outside linebacker positions. He is the total package when it comes to a young man and an athlete."
