Sophomore Mikey Anderson and junior Hunter Shepard each received a weekly award from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference for their spirited play in the University of Minnesota Duluth's series split with the University of North Dakota last weekend.

Anderson was chosen the NCHC Defenseman of the Week while Shepard landed Goaltender of the Week honors.

Anderson, a native of Roseville, Minn., tied for the NCHC lead in defensemen scoring last weekend with two points and was the lone league blueliner to score a goal. He also put seven shots on net -- the most of any NCHC point man -- and had five blocks. Anderson potted UMD's fourth goal in its 5-0 victory over the University of North Dakota on Friday and took regular shifts for a Bulldog penalty kill unit that was a perfect 11-for-11 over the two nights.

Shepard, a native of Cohasset, Minn., complied a .952 saves percentage over the weekend, turning aside 50 of the 52 shots he faced. He made 22 saves en route to registering his 10th lifetime shutout in Friday's 5-0 triumph (that put him all alone in the No. 1 spot on UMD's career list). He also played a key role in holding the Fighting Hawks scoreless on all 11 of their power play opportunities during the series. The two goals Shepard allowed came within a span of 91 seconds early in the first period Saturday

This marks the first  NCHC award of any kind for Anderson while Shepard has now been cited as the league's Goaltender of the Week on eight occasions -- six times one year ago and twice in 2018-19.
