Box Score Michigan Tech University's Grace Shaw and Gabby Sgambati scored in the second half to put away the University of Minnesota Duluth 2-0 in the 2018 season opener. The Bulldogs held the advantage in shots and corner kicks but were blanked on the scoreboard in Houghton, Mich.

Nan Glinsek had a game high three shots for the Bulldogs. Glinsek along with junior forward
Logan Nash and senior forward
Destiny Schmitz each registered a shot on goal.
Senior goalkeeper
Carlye Wright got her ninth career start in goal and made two saves. Wright made the only stop she saw in the opening half but the Huskies were finally able to capitalize on two of their three shots on goal in the second half.
Shaw scored in the 65th minute and Sgambati added the insurance marker in the 81st minute.
UMD had its chances in the first half after surviving an early shot and a pair of corner kicks by Michigan Tech. The Bulldogs had five corners in the first half including three in a span of nine minutes. UMD netted three shots during that stretch but Husky keeper Amanda Young kept the ball out.
A familiar flurry happened in the second. Senior forward
Natalie St. Martin had her shot go wide right in the 52nd minute. Later, Nash, Schmitz and Glinsek all had opportunities in a span of 2:10 but couldn't fly it past Young.
The Bulldogs return home for a few days before heading back to the upper peninsula on Sunday, Sept. 2 to face Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Mich.
