BULLDOGS EMBRACE THE COLD AND TAKE DOWN WOLVES

The Bulldogs finish with 13 shots, six of them reaching the net. The Wolves finished, taking five shots, only one of them reaching the net.
 
The first half saw tight play as each team had a shot within the first five minutes of kick off. Senior Nan Glinsek had a chance in the 11th minute, getting open for a shot on top of the box. Wolves goalkeeper Morgan Bury was able to stop the attempt. The Wolves had a chance around the 18th minute, a free kick attempt that chipped to the far side post, but was stopped by sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Grenz. UMD had another chance in the 22nd minute, when they had a corner kick that was chipped out front to senior forward Logan Nash. Nash hammered the ball but it soared above the net. The Bulldogs finished the half with nine shots, three of them were put on net. The Wolves finished the half with three shots, and only one was put on net.
 
The second half saw more action as UMD was able to net two shots in the half. The first was put away by freshman forward Erin Walpole, who took a shot from the left side of the net that curved into the net. Sophomore midfielder Ebelin Morales Benites drew defenders in and passed the ball to a wide-open Walpole.  The second was scored on a penalty kick that was taken by senior midfielder Emily Hinz. She puts away her team leading sixth goal of the year.
 
The Bulldogs finished the match with 13 shots, six were on net. Glinsek and Hinz finished with two shots each. Nine UMD players had one shot each. Hinz, Glinsek, Morales Benites, Walpole, freshman forward Tiana DeGrande and freshman midfelider Sarah Stange each finish with a shot on net. Grenz finishes with one save on the day.
 
UMD is back in action against the MSU Moorhead Dragons on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1 PM in Moorhead, Minn.
