Senior setter
Emily Balts was named the Norther Sun Intercollegiate Conference Setter of the Week for the weekend of Oct. 25-Oct. 27.
This is Balts' third time recieving the honor, the last two coming on Sept. 16 & Sept. 30.
Balts finished the weekend averaging 105 assists per set, as well as leading the Bulldogs to a .267 hitting percentage in wins against (RV) Sioux Falls and (at the time) No. 11 Southwest Minnesota State. She also recorded her 5,000th assist of her collegiate career in the third set of the University of Minnesota Duluth's win over (RV) Sioux Falls. She totaled 84 assists on the weekend, including 47 in the reverse sweep over Southwest Minnesota State. Balts currently leads the NSIC in assists per set with a 12.24 average, sitting second in all of division II and across all divisions. She is leading all active players across all divisions with a career average assist per set mark of 12.23 and total assists with 5,050.
Balts currently sits sixth all time on the Bulldogs all-time assist record book, sitting behind Rhaya Tomberlin (5,406).
The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 6:00pm, where sisters Emily (Torve) Balts and Maddy Torve will clash for the first time this season.
