ROONEY GLOVES WCHA GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK HONORS

After facing the most shots in the league -- and subsequently posting the most saves -- University of Minnesota Duluth senior goaltender Maddie Rooney has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Goaltender of the Week.

The Andover, Minn. product was impressive between the pipes for the Bulldogs against No. 7 Ohio State University last weekend in Columbus, Ohio, making a WCHA-best 68 saves on 71 shots faced.  In 123:47 minutes of action, Rooney posted a .958 saves percentage and also made two stops in the league shootout after holding the Buckeyes scoreless in double-overtime.
Rooney's save total also ranked as the fifth most in the NCAA on the weekend.

Rooney -- who has now been named the WCHA Goaltender of the Week twice so far this season -- will backstop the No. 10 Bulldogs this weekend when they host the No. 1 University of Minnesota this weekend at AMSOIL Arena.  Both games of the Friday-Saturday series will get underway at 3:07 p.m.
