Noah Cates, who has made quite a splash during his debut season at the University of Minnesota Duluth, secured himself a spot on the 2018-19 National Collegiate Hockey Conference All-Rookie Team, which was voted on by league coaches and announced today.
Cates, who was the top vote-getter on the All-Rookie Team with 19 points --Â including six (of a possible seven) first-place votes, becomes the fifth Bulldog in the six-year history of the league to ever be so honored, joining current sophomore defenseman
Scott Perunovich (2017-18), right winger
Joey Anderson (2016-17), goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo (2014-15) and left winger Alex Iafallo (2013-14).
A left winger out of Sillwater, Minn., Cates currently ranks fourth among all NCHC freshmen in points (31), is third in goals (9), fifth in shots (72), eighth in plus-minus rating (+9) and second in game-winners (2). Earlier this winter, Cates skated for Silver Medal-winning Team USA at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship.Â
