On a foggy Friday evening at Malosky Stadium in Duluth MN, The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team opened Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action with a convincing 4-0 shutout against the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles.
Senior defender
Mikayla Iaquinto scored on a header from a corner kick to get the Bulldogs (3-1-0) on the board early in the 11th minute. It was Iaquinto's first goal of the season, first game winning goal and first goal of the her Bulldog career. A minute later, senior midfielder
Emily Hinz converted on a free kick to double UMD's advantage. Hinz's goal was her third of the season, which is also a team high. Both teams battled through dense fog for the rest of the game with the Bulldogs finding the back of the net again in the 67th minute when sophomore forward
Haley Ford scored on an assist from fellow sophomore forward
Mandy Conkel. The goal was Ford's first of the 2019 campaign and her second goal as a Bulldog. Freshman forward
Tiana DeGrande would finish off the Eagles (0-2-0) in the 88th minute with her first collegiate goal on a strike from the top of the 18-yard box to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.

Logan Nash, senior forward Nan Glinshek, and junior forward
Holly Kaboord each chipped in three shots for the Bulldogs, who converted 50 percent (4/8) of their shots on goal. Minnesota Crookston goalkeeper Athena DiMarioDone recorded four saves for the Eagles.
The Bulldogs will look to push their winning streak to three games when they return to the pitch Sunday afternoon for a battle with NSIC rival Bemidji State University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Malosky Stadium.
