BLAIR AND MYER COMBINE FOR 64, BULLDOGS BOUNCE BACK TO TAKE DOWN CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL

The University of Minnesota Duluth climbed over the 100-point mark for the third time this season and bounced back in convincing fashion to take down Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference rival Concordia-St. Paul 101-92 Saturday evening at Romano Gymnasium in Duluth, Minn.

Senior forward Brandon Myer helped get the Bulldog offense get back on track early, adding a lay-in and a three-pointer to put the Bulldogs up 8-6. After losing the lead on a 6-1 run from the Golden Bears, senior guard Trevor Entwisle grabbed it right back with a three-pointer from the left corner to put the Bulldogs (14-4 overall, 9-3 NSIC) back up by two points. Just after the halfway point in the opening 20 minutes, back-to-back threes from freshman guard Jack Middleton and sophomore guard Hunter Plamann helped push the Bulldog lead up to eight points at 28-20. Red-shirt freshman Drew Blair put a halt to a 6-0 run from CSP (6-10 overall, 4-8 NSIC) by converting an and-one opportunity after being fouled on a lay-up. Blair added a layup on the next possession and two more free throws from Myer gave the Bulldogs a 7-0 run of their own. Blair would push the lead to 10 points at 47-37 after being fouled on a three-pointer and converting all three attempts from the charity stripe. Myer closed out the scoring for the Bulldogs in the opening half with his third three-pointer of the game, this one from the top of the key, to give the Bulldogs a 55-48 halftime lead.

Three minutes into the second half, Blair, from the left-wing, cashed in his first three of the game and added a layup two possessions later to give the Bulldogs a 67-54 lead. The 13-point advantage was UMD's largest of the game to that point. Plamann added to the three-point barrage with his second of the night, this time from the left corner, to put the Bulldogs up by 16 points at 75-69 with 12:55 remaining in the game. The Golden Bears wouldn't back down and took a bite into the Bulldog lead with a 10-2 run. The run cut the Bulldog lead back under 10 points at 79-70 just after the halfway point of the second half. Jordan Coblin added to the run by cashing in on a three from the top of the key and added a free throw after a foul on the shot from Entwisle. The four-point play cut the Bulldog lead down to five points at 79-74 with 8:40 remaining. With just under five minutes remaining, Blair and Myer added 4 points on free throws from a CSP technical foul on-top of a shooting foul that pushed the UMD lead from six to ten points at 90-80.
